Is it just iTunes, or you can't drag and drop from anywhere on your computer?

Just iTunes, but looking for individual files to drag them is a major PitA! It's not Lion but I have iTunes 10.5b27 for iOS 5 beta dev.

Does MiK support drag & drop from iTunes currently? I.e., in the latest versions of OS X and iTunes? (Lion and iTunes 10.x) This is a must-have feature for me, and I'm thinking about buying MiK.

Hi kimhill, Yes, Mixed In Key does support drag and drop from iTunes. It is my preferred method of adding files to MIK. Cheers, Chad P

I am having the same issue, as well! I just upgraded to iTunes 10.6 and now I can no longer use drag & drop from iTunes. If I manually drag an MP3 from Finder into MIK, analyze, and then play the track again in iTunes it updates the ID3 tag... obviously that's not the preferred method, especially when I analyze 30+ songs on a weekly basis. I am running MIK 5.0.1.913 and iTunes 10.6 on Lion 10.7.3. Please advise. Thanks, Keith

Is everyone having this problem using Lion 10.7.3? I'm still using Snow Leopard and iTunes 10.6 drag and drop is working correctly with our software.

Having this problem on Lion 10.7.3 using MixedInKey 5.0.1.913 I think it's since the most recent update of iTunes (10.6). I had this same problem on Lion before, several months ago. It disappeared after a few days back then. Can't remember if it was because of software updates but it didn't occur again untill now. Either way it's a major isssue. Basically making MixedInKey unusable for me. I hope it will be resolved somehow soon.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have identified a problem with drag and drop from the iTunes browser in iTunes 10.6 to our software on the Lion 10.7.3 operating system. We're working on the problem now, but if you need to restore this functionality immediately downgrading to the previous version of iTunes should fix the problem. Thank you for your patience while we work on a permanent solution. Cheers, Chad P

For the uninitiated could you explain how to revert to the previous version of iTunes on Mac please Chad?

Hi Ashley, It seems that finding the previous version is not as easy as I had first assumed. Windows versions are readily available but I'm not having as much luck finding a Mac version of 10.5, and definitely not an official link from Apple so I am hesitant to direct anyone to any particular site. For now the best recommendation is to add files directly from your hard drive. You can drag your whole music folder into Mixed In Key and it will skip the files already in your collection, or you can add new files to MIK before adding them to iTunes. Best, Chad P

That's ok if you keep your music in a separate folder. However, like most people I guess, I use iTunes to organise my music completely. My workflow is as follows. Buy music from iTunes - Drag from iTunes to PN - Drag from PN to MIK - Drag from MIK back into iTunes - Delete original ACC files (originals can be re-downloaded now via iTunes Match if anything goes wrong). So as you can see having to drag them into a folder first is not ideal, but I guess you are working on a fix so I will just have to put up with it for now :) Any idea how long until the fix becomes available Chad?

Great I've just purchased MIK 5 for my spanking new Macbook Pro having used it for years on my PC and have just discovered I can't drag and drop files from iTunes to MIK. Is there a work around for this or a solution without having to downgrade iTunes, please?

@K-Funk - we released a 5.0.2 Mac version update about a week ago that fixes the issue with iTunes drag and drop support on the 10.7.3 OS. If you don't have this version you should be getting an update notice in the app when you start it. If you're not, please write contact@mixedinkey.com and we will make sure you have the latest version. @achille66 - I think that you are having a different problem as the problem being discussed in this thread is isolated to the 10.7.3 version of Mac OSX. What file formats are the files that you are trying to drag into Mixed In Key? Does drag and drop from other programs still work? What about dragging the files in from their location on your hard drive, does that work?

Does this mean i have to buy the licence for MiK 5 in order to continue using a program that i already payed for? Or do you plan to publish an update for version 4 which fixes the drag and drop problem? Downgrading iTunes won't work because if you install the latest version of itunes it also updates your library file. Itunes can't read library files which have been created with a newer version of itunes. so this is a serious problem for most users! RĂ¼diger

I refuse to buy MIK 5 purely due to 4.1 not reading my iTunes. I demand an update to MIK 4 that gives me the function it once had. Also, stop those annoying advertisements for an 'update' (which is MIK 5...not a free update indeed) whenever I launch MIK4.

Hi, Thanks for posting, I am happy to help. I would suggest dragging the Music folder from your hard drive into Mixed In Key. It will skip the already analyzed files, and only process the new ones. Cheers, Chad P

Hi guys, Don't make me think this issue is not solvable. I did buy MIK 4, just make it work correctly, this is totally unacceptable. That's now almost 4 month I cannot use it, the only solution you have is to upgrade to MIK 5? What a rip off!!!!

My suggestion is to drag your iTunes Music folder into Mixed In Key from its location on your hard drive. Cheers, Chad P

Hello Chad: I tried your solution, but does not address the problem. There is no indication of the key in Itunes or Traktor after they are "analyzed" in MIK 5.0.2. The key notation only seems to exist in MIK. Can I get a previous version that works or should I just get my money back now, and wait till you guys solve the issue? Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards

After the files are analyzed in Mixed In Key the tags need to be updated in iTunes. Instructions can be found in the Personalize/Connect with DJ Software tab in the 5.0 version of MIK, or posted on the community in the very first post of my iTunes Tips thread. Cheers, Chad P

This issue is now happening with iTunes 10.7.

Will there be an update to MIK 4?

Thanks,
Randy

It's already been updated. You should get an update prompt when you run MIK 4.
